The course is divided into 3 stages. The first stage over the first and second semester, aims to build language skills and overall understanding of the culture. The second stage during the second and third semester, encourages how to interpret and translate professionally through a variety of practical exercises such as consecutive interpretation and translation in areas such as business and video. The third stage at last semester, focuses on the programs in the specific areas such as literary translation and simultaneous interpretation regarding international conference. In order to finish the course, a single translated work which is done by individual, should be submitted.

Fields of Study
1) Arabic Linguistics
Arabic Linguistics aims to improve communication and reading comprehension ability in Arabic for graduate school. Graduate students will have opportunities to learn advanced Arabic language, the most widely used language in the Middle East and Africa, by understanding academic terminology in the fields of politics, economy, society, culture and religion.
2) Arabic Literature
Arabic Literature focuses on the characteristics, genre and literary criticism of Arabic literature. Graduate students will gain an understanding of Arabic feelings and emotions, as well as a broad perspective the Arabic society by reading and analyzing carefully selected prominent Arab writers and their texts that span more than 1,400 years.
3) Middle Eastern and African History
Middle Eastern and African History lays the foundation for Middle Eastern and African studies and enhances understanding of the history of the Middle East and Africa, in general. The field also compares and analyzes academic texts from Middle Eastern and African history published in research papers and books. In all, an introduction to a variety of views of the history of the Middle East and Africa from ancient to modern times will be provided.
4) Middle Eastern and African Culture
Middle Eastern and African Culture aims to analyze the unique phenomena of Middle Eastern and African society and culture in comparison with other civilizations. This course will give students practical knowledge about how to understand cultural characteristics and differences in the region with intellectual flexibility.
5) Middle Eastern and African Politics
Middle Eastern and African Politics provides graduate students with opportunities to understand contemporary political issues faced by countries in the Middle East and Africa. The course aims to provide information about the evolution of State and Society in the region and guide students as they develop an ability to analyze the political dynamics of key Middle Eastern and African states.
6) Middle Eastern and African Economy
Middle Eastern and African Economy offers an introduction to the economic history of the Middle East and Africa from the advent of Islam fourteen centuries ago to the modern era. It examines how the Middle East and Africa have contributed to economic and cultural exchange between the East and the West. In addition, it focuses on the study of the history of oil in the Middle East, initiated by Britain and the U.S. in the 20th century, and analyzes the oil politics of Middle Eastern countries. Furthermore, it looks into how the injection of oil wealth has precipitated political and socio-economic changes in oil producing countries in the Middle East and North Africa.

The department aims to enhance students’ understanding and knowledge on various aspects of social science research methods and skills to better equip them to deal with analyzing complex issues and problems in the rapidly changing world. Specifically, the department is designed to cultivate a deep understanding of both the Eastern and Western political thoughts and philosophy, and help them to gain analytical skills to understand political systems and processes by accessing various theories of social science. In addition, through the study of various theories of international relations, students will have an accurate understanding of the world order, and at the same time, they will develop research method and strategic thinking that can promote national interests in the harsh international environment.

Our department has two courses for graduate student: Public Administration and Public Policy. The former focuses more on public management such as organizational behaviour, finances and human resources, and the latter on policy making, policy implementing and analyzing. The courses commonly study governmental activities, governance skills, regulatory measures and policy tools concerning relevant solutions to social problems. Careers in Public Administration and Public Policy include public affairs and communications, policy-making and governance, non-profit management of organization and personnel, leadership, local governmental activities and social entrepreneurship.

The aims of Public Administration and Public Policy are linked to not only democratic values like equality, security and justice, but also applying theory to practical solutions. The purposes of the courses are to make students as experts in analysing the nature and the causes of social problems, disputing current public regulations, making policy solutions or tools and implementing them into the real world. The courses are concerned with the management of public organization and personnel, finance management, the implementation of policy, carrying political activity and decision into actions and developing public programmes in order to solve social problems and enhance the well-being of the citizens. Public Administration and Public Policy make use of several other disciplines such as: organizational behaviour and theory, finances, human resources, politics, law and even ethics, philosophy and statistics.
A Master and Ph.d in Public Administration and Public Policy will help students to pursue careers in the public and the third sectors, working not only in governmental institutions, departments and agencies, but also not-profit organizations, such as the following careers: central and local governmental officers, civil service administrator, social and policy researcher, policy consultant and analyst, community administrator, public affairs consultant, consultant in organization and human resource, budget analyst and urban planner.

Media Content: Media content majors conduct research related to the content of various types of media content. Courses cover not only research related traditional media, such as broadcasting, but also to various kinds of digital media, including the internet and mobile media.
Advertising & Public Relations: Advertising majors conduct research related to advertising and promotion. The curriculum provides courses to prepare communication specialists in the areas such as marketing, media management, account planning, and political campaigns.
